But here’s the good news:

You can unlock your phone without losing any data using a free tool called MTK Tool. It works on MediaTek (MTK) powered Android phones and can help you recover your password or pattern safely.

What You’ll Need

MTK Tool + Activator (download link at the end)
Windows PC
USB cable
Oxygen Forensics Detective (v17.1 recommended)

Step-by-Step Guide to Unlock Without Data Loss

Step 1: Download & Extract

Download the MTK Tool and the Activator ZIP files.
Extract both using WinRAR or similar tool.
You’ll now have two folders:

mtk_tool/
activator/

Step 2: Open MTK Tool

Go to the mtk_tool/ folder.
Run the file named mtk.exe.
A window will open with numbered options.
Press 2 (to read user data without wiping the phone).

It will ask for a password. Don’t worry — we’ll generate it in the next step.

Step 3: Activate the Tool

Go to the activator/ folder and run the activator .exe file.
Copy the Hardware ID shown in MTK Tool.
Paste it into the activator and click Start Key Generation.
Copy the generated code and paste it back into MTK Tool.
Now the tool is activated.

Step 4: Read User Data from Phone

Connect your locked phone to the PC (powered off).
Press Volume Up + Down while plugging in the USB cable (this puts it in BROM mode).
MTK Tool will start reading your data (userdata.bin).

Do not disconnect the phone! This step may take 20+ minutes depending on your phone's storage.

Step 5: Read the Unlock Keys

Restart the MTK Tool.
Choose option 1 this time (Read Keys).
This creates 3 files in the config/ folder.
Find Magikuser.ask and rename it to keys.json.

Step 6: Extract Password Using Oxygen Forensic

Install and open Oxygen Forensics Detective.
Go to Home → Import Backup.
Select the device.ewc file from the config/ folder.
Choose Android Physical Image and leave the password blank.
Click Import.

You’ll now be able to view the backup data from your locked phone!

Step 7: Recover the Screen Lock

Once data is imported, Oxygen will ask what kind of lock it is:

4-digit PIN → choose PIN
Pattern → choose Pattern
Full password → choose Password

Click Select Algorithm and start the Brute-force Attack.

In 5–10 minutes, the software will show you the correct PIN or pattern.

I unlocked an Infinix Hot 10 Play this way — the correct PIN was 569432!

Real-Life Use Case

I used this method to help a friend who forgot his phone PIN after a system update. His phone had all his photos, WhatsApp chats, and contacts — everything was still there after unlocking.

These are the key files used to unlock the phone and recover your data.

Final Tips

Works only on MediaTek (MTK) phones
Make sure drivers are properly installed
Don’t unplug during the reading process
Might not work if the phone has full-disk encryption
